Eastbound Interstate 90 was backed up five miles Friday afternoon because of a car fire near where the interstate meets Snoqualmie Parkway, according to a tweet by the state Department of Transportation.

The fire was blocking three lanes, and the heavy traffic extended to High Point Way, the department said.

The car fire was cleared early Friday evening, but traffic was expected to take a while to ease up, a department tweet said.
