Relatives of a 2-year-old who was struck and killed by a car at Redmond Town Center on Wednesday say they will be holding a memorial service Thursday.
Susanna “Susie” Dreher was near an outside seating area at the Redmond shopping center when she ran out onto Northeast 74th Street last Wednesday.
A man driving east on 164th Avenue Northeast wasn’t able to stop in time and struck her. She was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. He also agreed to a voluntary blood draw.
The case remains under investigation.
Deborah Dreher, the girl’s aunt, said in an email Sunday that the memorial will be at Happy Valley Grange, 19720 N.E. 50th St., Redmond. The 9 a.m. service is open to the public.
“Susie was a uniquely joyful human from the moment she emerged. When we brought her home from the hospital, we were delighted by her persistent happiness. As days turned into weeks and months, her happy and mellow personality endured and a deeply loving, smiley, cuddly child emerged,” said an obituary written by the family.
