The bicyclist suffered critical injuries, according to the Shoreline Fire Department.
A semi struck a 14-year-old Shorewood High School student riding a bicycle Wednesday in Shoreline near his school, according to the King County Sheriff’s office.
The boy was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Cindi West said. Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg said the boy was in critical condition Wednesday night.
Witnesses told investigators that both the semi and the teen — who was riding on the sidewalk — were headed west on North 175th Street. The collision occurred when the truck made a right hand turn onto Aurora Avenue North, according to the sheriff’s office.
West said in a news release that the specific factors contributing to the accident have not yet been determined.
