We made it, folks. Your seasonal depression should be easing.

Seattle saw its first post-6 p.m. sunset Wednesday, bringing to an end (or at least granting a reprieve from) four months of damp, gray Big Dark.

In less than a week, we’ll also “spring forward” an hour for daylight saving, robbing you of an hour of sleep but abruptly pushing Seattle to post-7 p.m. sunsets. The sunset won’t come before 7 p.m. again until the end of September.

Daylight saving can affect your health. Start preparing now

As the evenings get brighter, take the opportunity to watch the sun disappear below the Olympic Mountains from Carkeek Park or illuminate the city skyline from Jefferson Park.

Seattle will also have a brief preweekend showing of sunny skies Thursday and Friday, when the high temperature is expected to hover just above 50 degrees. Get out those hiking boots, grab a water bottle, and perhaps — dare we even say it — put on a short-sleeve shirt.

Well, it won’t last long as the drizzle will return this weekend. But the temperatures will be slightly warmer, with highs in the 50s to lower 60s both Saturday and Sunday. Wetter weather will persist through the beginning of next week.
