Seattle celebrated its buskers at Buskarama, a new all-day event at Pike Place Market on Saturday. Rain stayed away for the morning as crowds flooded the market and buskers kept the mood lively.
Founded by Veterans Of The Arts, Buskarama was started to honor the tradition of artists performing at the market. “For decades, performers of all kinds have transformed street corners into stages, and have inspired millions of visitors from all over the world with their charisma and creativity,” said the event’s website. In the evening, The Rabbit Box theater hosted a special showcase.
“Buskarama is not the first busking festival,” according to the website. “The late Jim Hinde, and his pals Jim Page and Spoonman led a wonderful festival that fell silent with Hinde’s passing in 2008.”
