A brush fire that involved a tree was extinguished by firefighters tonight before it reached Fremont Coffee Company, a fair-trade cafe and roastery.

The fire, just after 6 p.m., caused $20,000 damage to the roof and wall of a nearby house in the 400 block of North 36th Street, said Kyle Moore, Seattle Fire Department spokesman.  A fire marshal was called to investigate the cause, he said.
