A Weather Channel meteorologist sets the record straight after her report was used by Breitbart to claim that the earth isn't warming anymore.

Don’t mess with the Weather Channel or you might get an on-air rebuke from a meteorologist. That’s what happened Tuesday to the conservative news and opinion outlet Breitbart.

Breitbart selectively used a segment from the Weather Channel in an article to claim that global warming is coming to an end. This revelation was news to Kait Parker, the meteorologist featured in the video accompanying the Breitbart article.

Parker hit back with a segment thoroughly debunking Breitbart and climate-change skeptics saying, “Here’s the thing. Science doesn’t care about your opinion. Cherry-picking and twisting the facts will not change the future nor the facts — note fact, not opinion — that the earth is warming.”

Climate change and global warming are well documented and accepted by nearly all scientists. Despite the scientific evidence, the Breitbart article grabbed the attention of the climate-change-denying U.S. House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

Don’t be surprised if more news and media outlets do what the Weather Channel did by pushing back against fake news and manipulated reports.

Parker ends her segment with a word of advice for Breitbart and any other entity that plays fast and loose with science: “So, next time you are thinking about publishing a cherry-picked article, try consulting a scientist first. And to all my fellow scientists out there, let’s make the facts louder than the opinions.”
