Firefighters in Mason County continued to battle a 100-acre brush fire in Skokomish, Mason County, Friday night, according to Norma King, a spokeswoman for Central Mason Fire and EMS.

The fire was burning close to North Sunnyside Road, and crews were trying to keep the fire from crossing the road. “We’re trying to keep it contained,” she said.

The blaze was pegged at 50 acres earlier Friday.

King said the rain that started early Friday is welcomed. Wet weather is expected to continue through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Power to the area was intentionally shut off but has been restored to many customers, she said.

King said no structures were burned or damaged, but some wooden power poles in the area were damaged. There were no injuries reported.
