Rescue teams are expected to resume their search for a missing boater on Lake Washington near Magnuson Park on Thursday, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The search, led by the King County Marine Rescue Dive Unit with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard and Seattle Police Department, started Tuesday when a running but empty boat crashed into a private pier near Juanita Bay.
Inside the 35-foot powerboat, which was in neutral, deputies found a wallet and a cellphone, Q13 FOX reported.
The sheriff’s office said Wednesday evening the boater is presumed drowned.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Tim Meyer said Wednesday evening the office plans to start a subsurface search with sonar technology Thursday morning.
“They’re hoping that will lead to closure for the family,” Meyer said.
