PORTLAND — A 22-year-old Portland man is expected to survive a collision with a pickup that severed his leg in Southeast Portland.

The Oregonian reports that Alistair Stephen Corkett was riding his bike when 42-year-old Barry Scott Allen, driver of thepickup, made a left turn in front of Corkett and a friend riding with him. Only Corkett was struck.

Allen was detained and released. Police say alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the incident, but the investigation is ongoing.

Brandon Bruins, the manager of the Bike Gallery where Corkett worked, says Corkett was in good spirits after surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University.
