OLYMPIA — It’s been a week of revelations in the Troy Kelley investigation situation, topped off by the release of the House Democrats’ budget proposal. The highlights:
1. On Monday, State Auditor Troy Kelley declined to take questions about the search of his home and subpoena of his office by federal agents.
2. On Tuesday, parents delivered a petition with about 20,000 signatures supporting a bill to require that student scores on state tests to be used in evaluating teachers.
3. On Wednesday, we profiled Jason Jerue, the auditor employee who is the focus of the grand jury subpoena – and who has an interesting and mysterious relationship with Troy Kelley.
4. On Thursday, it was revealed that Auditor Kelley may have known about the investigation since April of 2013; we also learned he keeps a light official calendar.
5. On Friday, House Democrats revealed their 2015-17 budget proposal, which would raise $1.5 billion in new tax revenue to pay for education, mental health and other programs.
6. Also on Friday, state Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed a brief supporting Colorado in that state’s pot lawsuit.
