Police say a man was killed Thursday night after he was hit by a bus at Westlake Avenue and Blanchard Street.
A 43-year-old pedestrian died Thursday night after he was hit by a bus in the South Lake Union neighborhood in Seattle about 8:30 p.m.
According to Seattle police, the bus had been traveling eastbound on Blanchard Street when it turned onto Westlake Avenue, striking the man, who had been crossing west to east.
The driver of the bus initially continued on, not knowing the man had been struck, police said. Officers interviewed the driver, who was evaluated by a drug-recognition expert, and no sign of impairment was found, police said.
Police did not say Friday morning whether the man was in a crosswalk when he was struck.
The Seattle police Traffic Collision Unit will investigate.
