PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A woman was killed Monday in a hit-and-run crash in Northeast Portland, police said.

Officers on patrol came upon the victim, who has not been publicly identified, lying in the street at about 11:40 p.m., police said.

The officers called for paramedics, but the woman died at the scene. Investigators believe she was struck by a vehicle.

Her death is the 28th traffic fatality in Portland this year, according to police.
