LEBANON, Ore. (AP) — The parents of an infant who died of malnutrition in March face charges of first-degree manslaughter, police said.

The Lebanon Police Department said police and firefighters responded to a Lebanon home March 28 in response to a 6-week-old girl who had died.

Detectives said they learned the infant died from “malnutrition and lack of care while in the care and custody of her parents,” KATU-TV reported.

Officers on Wednesday arrested Shantell Swiercz and Kristian Lee, both 23, and booked them into Linn County Jail. It wasn’t immediately known if either have lawyers.

Police said an investigation is ongoing.
