Two people died near Monroe after a collision between an SUV and a dump truck on Highway 2.
Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the crash around 1 p.m. The driver of the SUV and a passenger were traveling west when their vehicle crossed the centerline, Patrol Trooper Rocky Oliphant said. The dump truck driver tried to avoid the SUV but could not. The two SUV passengers died, and the dump truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Oliphant said.
The roadway was fully reopened about 8 p.m.
