MOHAI welcomes back visitors after more than a year of pandemic-related closure

    April 2, 2021 at 7:00 pm
The famous hydroplane Slo-mo-shun IV (U-27) is suspended above the first floor of the Museum of History and Industry. On June 26, 1950, on Lake Washington, the boat piloted by Stan Sayres shattered the world speed record on water at more than 160 mph.
MOHAI reopened Friday after being closed since March 2020. Timed-entry admission tickets are required and all visitors are required to wear a mask. The museum allows up to 25% capacity.

MOHAI says this rare piece of aviation history hanging from its ceiling is the wooden Boeing B-1 seaplane built in Seattle in 1919 and was the only one ever built. It flew from Seattle to Victoria, British Columbia, on what became the first regular international airmail route. The neon “R” stood atop the former Rainier brewery.
