A 55-year-old woman is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center after being hit by a car in White Center Thursday afternoon.

Sgt. B.J. Myers of the King County Sheriff’s Office said the woman, a White Center resident, was hit about 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of Southwest 102nd Street and 16th Avenue Southwest.

The driver, a 50-year-old Burien woman, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was booked into the King County Jail on investigation of vehicular assault.

CORRECTION: An earlier report said the woman had died. The King County Sheriff’s Office erroneously reported the incident as a fatality, but corrected that information in an email a little before noon.
