Police have arrested a man suspected of shooting another man in the face early Thursday in Renton.

Renton police received a 911 call around 1:45 a.m. reporting gunshots in the 200 block of Southwest Fifth Place. A short time later, the victim’s girlfriend called police and said she was driving the wounded man to Valley Medical Center, police said.

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening bullet wound to his face and was released from the hospital later Thursday morning, according to police.

Police say the shooting resulted from a dispute between the victim and a male friend of the victim’s girlfriend. Officers found the suspect at a nearby apartment, and he claimed the victim had pulled a gun on him first, police said.

Police arrested the man after interviewing witnesses. A gun believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered from his apartment.
