One person was killed and another wounded in a shooting Sunday outside a Tukwila apartment complex, police say.

At about 5:40 p.m. an 18-year-old man was fatally shot in the upper torso while sitting in a car in the apartments’ parking lot in the 3400 block of South 144th Street, said Tukwila police spokesman Mike Murphy.

A 24-year-old man in the car was wounded and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was in stable condition, according to Murphy.

A man suspected in the deadly shooting fled on foot and remained on the loose Sunday night. Murphy said it appeared the incident was not random. “We believe they knew each other,” he said.

It’s the latest in a spate of gun violence in the city.

On Thursday night, a shotgun-wielding man was shot and killed by Tukwila police after he fired at officers during a standoff. A day earlier, a man was found collapsed in a backyard after being shot and seriously wounded. Last month, two men were shot in a gunfight outside a Tukwila fast-food restaurant.
