A 23-year-old man who was shot late Tuesday at Alki Beach in West Seattle has died at Harborview Medical Center.

Gunfire erupted at a large gathering on the beach near 62nd Avenue Southwest and Alki Avenue Southwest just before 9 p.m., said Seattle police spokesman Mark Jamieson.

“There was some sort of disturbance” that led to the shooting, Jamieson said.

Police responded and found the man with several gunshot wounds.  He died at the hospital about 9:30 p.m, a nursing supervisor said.  She did not release further details.

Police were interviewing witnesses late Tuesday and did not release suspect information, except to say the person or people who fired the shots left the scene in a vehicle and that no arrests have been made.
