A man was stabbed Saturday evening near Fifth Avenue South and South Jackson Street in Seattle during an altercation, according to police.

The victim, who is in his late 30s, suffered life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the chest and abdomen about 6:15 p.m., according to police. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

No arrests had been made as of about 9 p.m.

Police said they did not have much of a description of the assailant, who was seen heading east on South Jackson Street. Witnesses described him as about 30 years old and said he was wearing a white shirt and carrying a dark jacket, according to police.
