One man was in the hospital and two people were in jail following an exchange of gunfire at a Park and Ride in Stanwood Sunday evening, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, someone flagged a deputy on the Stanwood Bryant Road at around 7 p.m. to report he believed someone was trying to sell online items stolen from him, according to a news release.

Deputies were told the man was going to meet a person selling his items at the Stanwood Park and Ride near 300th Northwest and Interstate 5.

Deputies checked that location and did not locate a suspect, so they went to the other local Park and Ride at Interstate 5 and State Route 532, the Sheriff’s Office said.

As a deputy approached the intersection next to the Park and Ride he saw group of people in the Park and Ride begin shooting at each other, according to the news release.

The deputy notified dispatch and a second deputy quickly arrived.

The men involved in the shooting were handcuffed and aid was requested for a one of them who had been shot multiple times, the news release said.

The victim’s condition was not available on Monday, but the sheriff’s office said he was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit investigated the shooting and two adult men were subsequently arrested and booked into Snohomish County Jail on investigation of second-degree assault, according to Lt. Jeff Brand of the sheriff’s office.
