The King County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a man who failed to appear in court last week while awaiting the verdict in his child-molestation trial.
Investigators believe Mark Dale Shewmaker, 55, may still be in the area, according to the sheriff’s office. He is charged in King County Superior Court with three counts of first-degree child molestation but failed to appear for the May 8 verdict.
A $500,000 warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Shewmaker lives in the Yakima area and has ties to South King County. He is white, with brown eyes and graying brown hair. He is 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds. He was last reported to be in the Chinook Pass area riding a black Suzuki motorcycle with the Washington plate 9B1265.
