A woman was found beaten to death, a man was injured and another man shot by a police officer under the Magnolia Bridge late Monday into early Tuesday, Seattle police said.

Officers arrived at the bridge in the 1600 block of 15th Avenue West in the Interbay neighborhood around 9:45 p.m. and found a man with serious injuries, Capt. Neil Low said.

The man directed officers toward under the bridge, where they found a woman who had been beaten to death inside a tent. Another man was barricaded in a nearby tent, chanting Bible verses and armed with a metal-tipped stick, according to a police.

The injured man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

After several hours of negotiations to get the man with the stick to surrender, SWAT officers responded. According to police, when the man charged from his tent, an officer shot him in the leg. The man was taken into custody and treated by medics from the Seattle Fire Department. He was then taken to Harborview.

Homicide and CSI detectives are investigating the scene Tuesday morning.

Police said it was unclear whether those involved knew each other.
