The terrier-type dog, which suffered numerous bite wounds on its legs and body, is recuperating at the Everett Animal Shelter.
Animal-control officers are asking for the public’s help in identifying a severely injured dog that was abandoned along Highway 522 between Maltby and Woodinville.
The small, female American Staffordshire terrier-type dog was found June 9 with numerous dog-bite wounds to both front legs and her body, said Vicki Lubrin, licensing and Animal Control Services manager for Snohomish County
The dog, about 3 years old, was also covered in Wound-Kote, a dark purple substance often used to treat wounds on livestock, Lubrin said.
A witness called 911 after seeing a black pickup that was headed west stop along the highway near Paradise Lake Road. The witness said a man wearing camouflage pants left the truck and threw a cardboard box onto the shoulder of the road before driving off.
The witness found the injured dog next to the box, Lubrin said in a news release.
The dog is receiving medical treatment at the Everett Animal Shelter. She is presently not available for adoption.
Lubrin said Animal Control Services is conducting a criminal investigation into animal cruelty and abandonment.
