Seattle police arrested a 20-year-old man Wednesday a half-mile from where authorities believe he played a role in the fatal shooting of a young man walking home from a friend’s prayer service July 31.

Zakariya Issa, 20, died in the street at 44th Avenue South and South Cloverdale Street in the Dunlap neighborhood after attending the afternoon service for his close friend, Muldhata Dawud.

Issa was fatally shot while talking to his mother on the phone.

Dawud was killed July 30 in a drive-by shooting in Federal Way that injured two others. Police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the shooting last week.

Earlier this month, law-enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigations said the two shootings are not connected.

Police arrested the suspect allegedly connected with the Dunlap shooting at 45th Avenue South and South Kenyon Street. He was booked into King County Jail. No other details were available.
