A man who had tried to rob a woman on the street fired a gun before leaving the scene.
Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after being hit by ricocheting bullet fragments during an attempted street robbery in Ballard early Saturday.
Police said witnesses told them that a man approached a woman near Northwest Market Street and Ballard Avenue Northwest about 12:15 a.m. and tried to take her necklace. As the woman struggled with the man, a doorman from a nearby club stepped in, but the robber pulled out a gun, firing several times into the ground before fleeing the area, police said.
Police searched the neighborhood, but didn’t find the man. They ask anyone with information to call 206-684-5535.
