Arlington police have identified two suspects in Friday’s hit-and-run crash that sent a police sergeant to the hospital.

Police say the men, identified as Rodrigo Loyola-Vasquez and Martin A. Castro-Ponce were driving a white Buick LeSabre that failed to stop for a red light at 172nd Street Northeast and Smokey Point Boulevard around 10:45 p.m. Friday and collided with a patrol car, injuring the sergeant. The driver of the Buick drove off and abandoned the car in a nearby parking lot, police said.

The Arlington police sergeant was treated at Cascade Valley Hospital and released early Saturday.

Investigators contacted the registered owner of the Buick and he told officers that Loyola-Vasquez, 19, and Castro-Ponce, 18, both of Marysville, had permission to use the car, according to police.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Loyola-Vasquez and Castro-Ponce is asked to call 911 or the Arlington Police Department at 360-403-3400.
