The Everett attorney for a group opposed same-sex marriage has filed a voter initiative to essentially affirm Washington’s Defense of Marriage Act that restricts marriage in this state to one man and one woman.

The move comes a week after Gov. Chris Gregoire said she would propose legislation to legalize same-sex marriage.

Under the heading, Definition of Marriage, the proposal tweaks language in the state’s current DOMA law, replacing references to “a male” and “a female” with “one woman” and “one man.”
