The Washington state Department of Health is working to launch a winter seasonal hazards dashboard to help inform residents about public health and safety trends and how to better prepare for seasonal hazards.
Technical problems with the site led the department to announce that a fix was being worked on and that the issues are expected to be resolved by Friday.
The dashboard will provide an interactive map showing motor vehicle crash-related emergency department visits by county, data on motor vehicle crash-related emergency department visits overlaid with temperature trends, and tabs covering emergency department visits for cold-related illnesses, falls, asthma and carbon monoxide exposures.
“This dashboard helps Washingtonians understand and prepare for the health dangers winter can pose,” said Dr. Tao Sheng Kwan-Gett, chief science officer at the Health Department. “With clear maps and graphs and accessible information, our goal is to keep our communities safe and informed about severe weather events.”
