It’s the end of an era. Or rather, the end of an area code.

As the 206 area code is almost exhausted in Seattle, a new code will hit the city next month.

Say hello to 564.

The new area code was introduced in Washington in 2017 as other area codes in the region started running out of phone number combinations: 360, 253 and 425.

The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission said in a news release that starting June 10, customers in Seattle may be assigned a number in the 564 area code when they request new service or an additional line.

Currently assigned phone numbers will not be impacted by the change.
