Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich plans a campaign swing through Washington state Thursday and Friday.

Gingrich, the former U.S. House speaker, and his wife, Callista, will hold rallies Thursday in Kennewick and Spokane, his campaign announced.

On Friday, they will visit the state Capitol in Olympia to speak with Republican legislators and hold a news conference.

That will be followed by rallies in South King County and Everett.

The Everett rally will be held at 7 p.m. at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave.

Details of the South King County event will be announced later, the campaign said in a news release.

Gingrich’s scheduled visit is the latest in a spate of presidential-candidate attention to the state before the March 3 GOP caucuses.

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Texas Congressman Ron Paul held rallies here last week, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is scheduled to visit the Seattle area March 1.

President Obama flew in Friday for two political fundraisers and an economic speech at Boeing’s Everett plant.
