Political power broker and former chairman of the Washington State Democrats, Charles Rolland, has died. The 61-year-old Seattle man served as state chair from 1993 to 1995.

He was deputy chief of staff to former Seatle Mayor Norm Rice and the founder of a parent-led advocacy group called Community and Parents for Public Schools of Seattle.

There was no immediate word of Rolland’s cause of death.
