A Camano Island man was killed when his pickup crossed the center line and hit a tanker truck.

A 69-year-old Camano Island man was killed Tuesday night after the pickup he was driving crossed the center line on Highway 530 near Darrington and hit a tanker truck, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The head-on crash, which caused the propane truck to catch fire, occurred around 8:30 p.m. The driver of the propane truck was not hurt.

It is not known why the eastbound pickup truck crossed over into westbound traffic, according to the State Patrol.
