The Exxon Valdez spilled 11 million gallons of oil into Alaska’s Prince William Sound in the middle-of-the-night in a collision with Bligh Reef on Good Friday, March 24, 1989 – the worst oil spill in U.S. history.

And now, it’s going to be torn apart for scrap.

The Dallas Morning News has the story: Former Exxon Valdez, now Oriental Nicety, sold for scrap

Since the Alaskan oil spill, the ship has gone through many lives and sailed many seas. Among the names it was given were Exxon Mediterranean, Dong Fang Ocean and  Oriental Nicety.

In the end, it will be ripped apart somewhere in India, according to the Dallas News story.
