    Erosion closes road on Mercer Island

    Seen from the air, a cyclist zips by erosion at the 5600 block of East Mercer Way  on Mercer Island on Sunday. The City of Mercer Island tweeted  Sunday morning: “After review by the City’s Geotechnical Engineer this morning, East Mercer Way will remain CLOSED in both directions at the 5600 block until further notice. The City now plans to put temporary signals in place to allow alternating one-way traffic.” (Ken Lambert / The Seattle Times)

      Seattle swamped with snowy scenes on Saturday

    • The first of the weekend snow sticks to the playing surface of Cal Anderson Park Friday night, but not nearly enough to deter a evening’s soccer game.   A strong winter storm dumped several inches of snow on the metropolitan Seattle area- even more expected to fall in the south county.
