The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN) reported two minor, overnight earthquakes near Bellingham and Bremerton.

Just before midnight, a 2.4 magnitude earthquake hit the Bremerton area near Wild Cat Lake.

At 1:40 a.m., a slightly stronger earthquake — with a magnitude of 3.0 — was measured about 5 miles outside of Bellingham. The quake was reported by 190 people in 11 zip codes as of 7 a.m. Thursday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, earthquakes measured under a magnitude 3 are felt by “very few under especially favorable conditions.” Earthquakes measured around or above a magnitude 3 are usually “felt only by a few persons at rest, especially on upper floors of buildings.”
