The city of Lakewood will dedicate a new elementary school this week in memory of four police officers killed in 2009.

The Clover Park School District has invited the community to help celebrate the new Four Heroes Elementary School on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.

The school district says the school, named in honor of the police officers shot to death at a coffee shop in Parkland on the morning of Nov. 29, 2009, will honor the dedication and sacrifice public servants make every day. The four slain officers were Mark Renninger, 39; Ronald Owens, 37; Tina Griswold, 40, and Greg Richards, 42. Their killer, Arkansas parolee Maurice Clemmons, was shot and killed by a Seattle police officer Dec. 1, 2009.
