A group of parents and educational experts has announced the opening of a German-language immersion school, called the Seattle Area German American School (SAGA).

The private, nonprofit school will begin taking part-time preschoolers starting Sept. 7. It will be located in Issaquah, at the Issaquah Community Church, 205 Mountain Park Blvd. S.W. The school plans to continue adding grades through elementary school and beyond as the program grows, school-board members said.

Monthly tuition will be $300 to $600, depending on how many days a week care is provided. More information is available on the Internet at www.sagaschool.org or by e-mail at info@sagaschool.org.

Girls Rock concert plays tonight

Girls Rock, a Rockrgrl Camp concert, starts at 6:30 tonight at the Old Fire House Teen Center in Redmond.

The concert will showcase female musicians, ages 9-12, who participated in the Rockrgrl Camp this week. The camp was a joint collaboration of Rockrgrl magazine, the teen center and Rock School, a nonprofit group that offers musical classes to youth.

Several performers, including LD and Her Pretty Pretties, Via Ventura, Free Verse and Cober, will play following the showcase event.

Proceeds from the $6 ticket to tonight’s show will provide scholarships for girls at the Rock School. The teen center is at 16510 N.E. 79th St.
