MONTESANO, Grays Harbor County — A sheriff’s deputy shot and stabbed in an attack that also injured a judge at the Grays Harbor County courthouse has returned to work.

Deputy Polly Davin returned to light duty on Monday, a month after she was attacked. She says she’s amazed and grateful that her injuries weren’t more serious.

Davin was stabbed twice, then shot in the upper arm with her own handgun after confronting a man reported to be behaving strangely on March 9 in the courthouse.

Superior Court Judge David Edwards saw Davin struggling with the man and raced to help. Edwards suffered minor stab wounds and returned to work the next Monday.

A 34-year-old man, Steven Kravetz, has been charged with attempted murder and assault. He remains in custody on $900,000 bail.
