The Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office also found the shooting of a 32-year-old woman was justified.
Tacoma police officials have ruled that an officer’s fatal shooting of a 32-year-old woman was justified.
The News Tribune reports that the Tacoma Police Department’s Deadly Force Review Board and Police Chief Don Ramsdell found that Officer Scott Campbell acted appropriately when he shot Jacqueline Salyers in her vehicle on Jan. 28.
Officers were trying to arrest Salyers’ boyfriend, who was in the passenger seat of a parked car before the shooting occurred. Salyers was in the driver’s seat and officials say when the police ordered the pair to show their hands, Salyers started the car and accelerated toward Officer Scott Campbell.
Campbell fired, striking Salyers four times. Lindquist says the car missed him by inches. A stolen handgun was found in the vehicle.
