A man was fatally shot at a bus stop near Seattle’s Fremont and Wallingford neighborhoods Monday evening, Seattle police said.

Officers were dispatched to North 46th Street and Aurora Avenue North around 10 p.m., police said.

The gunshot victim, who was reported to be in his 30s, died at the scene, a spokesperson for the Seattle Fire Department said. No other injuries were reported.

Witnesses told police the victim had been in an argument with another man at the bus stop.

The two men had just gotten off an E line bus that stopped at North 46th Avenue and Aurora Avenue North, according to King County Metro spokesperson Torie Rynning. There were five to seven people on the bus before the shooting occurred, Rynning said.

A second bus with two people on board pulled up behind the first bus when the shots went off, she said.

The suspect ran away and had not been caught, despite a K-9 search of the area, as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
