According to video from a traffic camera, the young male didn't appear to be seriously injured as he picked up his skateboard and dashed away.
On your mark, get set, kapow!
Bellevue police are looking for a juvenile male who ran into the intersection at 148th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 8th Street on Wednesday and collided with a Tesla SUV.
Video recorded by the city’s traffic cameras shows the young person getting into a classic runner’s stance before racing into the intersection against the light and slamming into the side of the passing car.
In the video, which was released by police who asked for help identifying the youth, the runner appears to bounce up uninjured, grab his skateboard and dash away.
“Any time an individual is involved in a collision that causes damage to a vehicle, they are required to stop and provide information to the other involved party,” Bellevue police said in a news release. “This includes pedestrians.”
Officers responded to the intersection shortly before 1 p.m. after the driver of a 2016 Tesla SUV reported she’d been driving westbound on Northeast 8th Street about 35 mph when a pedestrian ran into the drivers’ side of her vehicle.
There was, police said, “significant damage to the side of the vehicle, including the mirror.”
The pedestrian — described as a white juvenile male, wearing a dark hoodie, a blue backpack and carrying a skateboard — was not found.
Bellevue police are asking that anyone with information about the pedestrian’s identity call 425-577-5656.
