After a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot Monday evening in Renton, police arrested a 41-year-old suspect early Tuesday, according to a Renton police commander.
Officers were called to the 1400 block of North Fourth Street around 7:45 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired, Renton police Cmdr. Dave Leibman wrote in a statement.
They found the boy with gunshot wounds in a nearby alley. He died later Monday night.
Detectives believe he “was targeted,” the statement said.
Renton police arrested a 41-year-old Seattle man early Tuesday, who was in an apparent altercation with the 17-year-old, Leibman said in an updated statement.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail a little after 3 a.m. on investigation of homicide and a felony firearms violation, jail records show. The Seattle Times is not naming the man because he has not been criminally charged.
