A man who was shot multiple times while driving down a West Seattle alley Sunday afternoon was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, according to Seattle police.
Several people called 911 to report hearing gunshots and officers responded to the 6000 block of Stevens Street Southwest around 12:40 p.m., where they located the injured man in the alley, Det. Patrick Michaud wrote in a post on the Seattle Police Department’s online blotter.
The blotter post includes a photo of a grey Toyota sedan with California license plates and at least five gunshot holes in the windshield.
Witnesses told officers the shooting suspect had walked away from the scene, headed toward Alki Beach, the post says. Additional officers responded to help with the search and a suspect was arrested a few blocks away shortly after 1 p.m.
Police also found a .40-caliber handgun partially submerged in the water at Alki, according to the blotter post.
“Detectives believe the suspect shot at the victim as the victim drove down the alley. The suspect then fled between some nearby apartment buildings, entered an apartment, struck a resident with the pistol, then fled towards the beach,” Michaud wrote.
As of 5 p.m., detectives were interviewing the suspect and trying to determine what led to the shooting, according to the post.
