A 63-year-old bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run about 7 p.m. Friday near Southwest Spokane Street and Klickitat Avenue Southwest, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Witnesses told police a driver in a white or silver sedan heading east on Southwest Spokane Street hit a man crossing the street on a compact electric bike, then kept going, according to a blotter post.

Seattle Fire Department medics attempted lifesaving measures, but the bicyclist died at the scene, police said.

The Spokane Street Bridge was shut down in both directions late Friday evening.

SPD detectives ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
