A motorist suspected of drunk driving was among four people injured when his SUV crossed  into oncoming traffic and caused a three-vehicle collision on Martin Luther King Jr. Way near Interstate 5 early Saturday morning, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The 65-year-old Seattle driver  is under investigation  for vehicular assault. He and the 19-year-old driver of another vehicle were in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center late Saturday morning.

The driver and a passenger in a third car were transported to Valley Medical Center, but were no longer in the hospital later in the morning.

The crash occurred shortly after midnight when the westbound SUV crossed into the eastbound lanes that are part of an interchange with I-5. The driver of an eastbound SUV swerved, colliding with a third vehicle but still hitting  head-on with the westbound vehicle, the State Patrol reported.
