An adult and a child were seriously injured in a house fire in Auburn early Sunday morning, fire officials reported.

Eleven people were inside the home on 19th Avenue Southeast, in a neighborhood east of the Muckleshoot Casino Resort, the Valley Regional Fire Authority reported. All 11 people escaped the home, but an adult and a child both were injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center.

At 6 p.m. Sunday, the child was in the hospital’s intensive care unit in critical condition, while the adult was in satisfactory condition, according to Harborview.

Five departments responded to the house fire, Valley Regional reported around 6:30 a.m.

Images of the two-story home after the fire show charred walls and broken windows, though the structure remained largely intact.

Fire officials contacted the American Red Cross to help displaced residents.

Investigators were trying to determine the cause of the fire.
