A third and final suspect is in custody after an attempted hold-up at a pawn shop in Burien on Tuesday night, police say.

The suspects — three men dressed in black hoodies and carrying handguns — apparently traded gunfire with police who arrived on the scene after 7 p.m. at the Pawn X-Change at 15421 First Ave. S. Two were arrested and one initially fled, but he was arrested today, said Cindi West, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office. The three suspects have not been identified.

Tuesday night, officers at first weren’t sure whether the third suspect was still in the building, while three employees hid together in a room.  A county SWAT team and other police remained outside as the building was searched, first using camera-equipped robots and later by officers when those cameras didn’t spot another suspect in the store.

After interviewing the shop’s employees, police concluded no more than three men were involved in the attempted hold-up.

Police are still investigating what happened when officers arrived at the store and shots were fired.
