Firefighters put out the last hot spots Wednesday in one of two fires in Douglas County that burned more than 22,000 acres acres this weekend, and the fires are 100 percent contained, authorities say.
All orders to evacuate have been lifted, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Five original fires sparked by lightning merged into two large blazes on Friday east of Waterville, Douglas County, according to a State Patrol news release, triggering the evacuation of 300 residences. Residents of 270 homes returned home Monday.
No buildings were destroyed and no injuries were reported in the fire, according to the release.
